...no they won't find any extremist literature in the Kingdom Hall"
Beautifully said, SBF!
so as some are probably aware the january study edition has two articles on the anointed.
one basically discouraging people from believing they are anointed and another about how ones should view partakers.
this photo is from the second article:.

i came across an odd remark concerning the booking of a jw convention in an article from spokane.. visit spokane’s cheryl kilday: meeting expectations.
since cheryl kilday returned to the northwest 5 1/2 years ago, the spokane convention center has been expanded, a 750-room hotel has opened across from it, and a number of smaller investments have added dining and shopping options in the city’s core.
all of the changes have added options or improved the pitch for spokane for kilday, who as the president and ceo of visit spokane heads up the organization tasked with bringing more people and events to town.
Oh, a July 4 convention? How considerate and promotive of family values... another holiday weekend opportunity obliterated by the minions of the Bronze Age desert god.
And they wonder why young people are leaving in droves.
>>the bible reveals that jehovah issaddened when people pursue a wick-ed course and ‘the inclination of theirthoughts is only bad all the time.’ (readgenesis 6:5, 6.
) from this we can per-ceive that sexual fantasizing is wrongbecause it can lead to serious sin that isforbidden in the scriptures and is out ofharmony with jehovah’s way of think-ing.the disciple james wrote: “the wis-dom from above is first of all pure, thenpeaceable, reasonable, ready to obey, full of mercy and good fruits, impar-tial, not hypocritical.” (jas.
3:17) beingaware of this, we should be moved toreject entertainment that fuels impurethoughts and inclinations.
So it continues:
Jehovah is saddened again by his naughty little dubbies.
Little-to-nothing about Jesus/God; the focus on Control, Control CONTROL and manipulation on JW behavior and thoughts, applied with a generous dose of guilt inducement..
last night, during our "christian life and ministry" meeting, we had a session on local needs.
elder opened the talk with a disclaimer saying that this was a reminder (cited psalms about how david loved jehovahs reminders).
he reminded us of how bless we are of having our own local assembly hall.
i've always found it amazing that people can say with such conviction that jehovah is their friend.. we are talking about a "friend" who perhaps daily "tests" us to see if we are his friends.
all of us have dealt with some form of hardship such as the death of a loved one, chronic illness or whatever.
it is in these cases that the brothers will tell a person that perhaps it is a test, or that "jehovah knows you're not ready" or some other lame excuse.. do our real friends "test" us to see if we will be loyal to them?
Heartsafire is spot on,
Their intent is to deprive the rank and file of any sense they are God's children -- sons and daughters, and instead to accept the devalued status of God's "friends".... something like Harvey Jimmy Stewart's imaginary rabbit friend:

seems to be quite a few posters recently pulling down the beliefs of jw's as not biblical or truly christian.
maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong, i really don't care.. in some important ways though mainstream christians often behave better than jehovah's witnesses; most don't practice shunning or impose lethal medical prohibitions on their members.
many are far more tolerant of the lgbt community and a few even make the awkward attempt to square the fact of evolution with their faith.. please note that i'm saying some, not all.. so i suppose it's fair to say that differing forms of christianity can be better or worse for individuals, families and the wider community.

They've long ago abandoned the pretense that the Sunday "public" lecture is for anyone but the initiated JW, anyway, what with the speakers' frequent recourse to "theospeak," i,e. JW-only jargon like "circuit assembly," "pioneering," "unbaptized publisher," "Faithful Slave" etc., etc., blah, blah, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
You gotta wonder whether they really want the public at meetings anymore, so they might as well lock the doors, as long they'll let you out when you wanna barf!
